Vata Apple Breakfast Bowl

Vata types are cold, light, irregular, dry, and always changing. To balance Vata, make choices that bring warmth, stability, and consistency to your life. Try to get to bed before 10 p.m., wake up by 6 a.m., and eat your meals at regular times.

This is a wonderful breakfast for anyone but especially Ayurvedic Vata types. It is aromatic, nourishing, and comforting…perfect for easing your way into the day.

Vata Apple Breakfast Bowl

Serves 1
3/4-1 cup water
1 apple, cubed
1/4 oats or 1/2 cup leftover cooked rice
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp cardamom
several dashes cinnamon
a dash each of ground nutmeg and cloves
1/2 inch fresh ginger, grated
a generous pat of butter

apples

Heat water over medium-high heat in a large skillet.

Add apples and cook until softened, about 10 minutes.

While the apples are cooking, add remaining ingredients to the skillet and stir occasionally.

The liquid that is not soaked up will form a delicious, flavorful syrup.

Serve hot.
